Privacy Policy

Your email address, display name, and optionally a phone number and profile picture. If you sign in with Google we receive your name and email from Google.

Donors provide pickup addresses. These are shared only with the volunteer or partner assigned to that pickup and with NOFRC administrators. Public boards show only a neighborhood and an approximate map point. If you use "near me," your device location is used in your browser to sort results and is not stored. Community Market locations are shown only as approximate areas.

Names, addresses, hours, services and public contact details that organizations choose to publish. Staff roles and claim documents are visible only to authorized organization staff and NOFRC administrators.

Pickups you claim, hours logged, pounds delivered and your alert preferences. Your name appears on leaderboards only if you opt in. Volunteer phone numbers are never shown to donors or other volunteers.

Food descriptions, quantities, timing, photos and status updates, used to coordinate and verify each rescue and to report combined impact totals.

Pickup coordination messages are visible only to the participants and, when needed for safety or moderation, NOFRC administrators.

Photos you upload are stored privately and resized before upload. Location data embedded in photos is not published.

We keep basic technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and error details) to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems. We do not use advertising trackers.

NOFRC does not use Google Analytics, Google Ads or Meta/Facebook pixels, or any other advertising or tracking pixel. We never sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

Our emails use honest subject lines and include a clear unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops those emails right away. Essential account messages, like password resets, may still be sent. You can also manage alerts in Preferences & Alerts.

We use browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. These are required for the service to work; we do not use them for advertising.

We rely on providers for hosting and database services, sign-in (including Google), and maps (Google Maps and OpenStreetMap). They process data only to provide those services to us.

Account data is kept while your account is active. Completed rescue records and verified hours are kept to support accurate impact reporting, but can be de-identified when you delete your account. Security logs are kept for a limited period.

You can view and update your profile at any time. To request a copy of your data, correction or deletion of your account, contact us through the contact page. We will respond within 30 days.

Access to records is enforced by the database for each user and role, connections are encrypted, and administrative actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

NOFRC's accounts are for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
